Supplement Name: Vitamin C
Introduction:
Vitamin C (L-ascorbic acid) is an essential nutrient that assists with the metabolism. As a water soluble vitamin, our bodies are unable to store it, hence it is needed in our diets on a daily basis. Vitamin C can be found in citrus, soft fruits, and leafy green vegetables (Capsicums, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, sweet potatoes, oranges, lemons, kiwi fruits, etc)
Key Benefits:
Helps protect cells and keeps them healthy
Assists in the bodys ability to absorb iron from food, which in turn can assist with maintaining energy levels throughout the day.
Cons:
Taking large amounts of vitamin C can cause stomach pain, diarrhoea and flatulence. But these symptoms should disappear once you stop taking the supplements.
Suggested Serving Size:
The United Kingdom FSA (Food Standards Association) recommends an 40mg/day for Vitamin C for an adult, (that the equivalent of XX Oranges) There are various schools of thought to this, some experts recommending as high as 18,000mg/day.
