Zinc
Introduction:
Zinc is an essential trace element, necessary for plant, animals and microorganisms, and is involved in aspect of cellular metabolism. Zinc is found in many foods with shellfish a significant contributor, with red meat and chicken also rich in zinc.
Key Benefits:
Zinc plays a role in the immune system, protein synthesis, wound healing, DNA synthesis and cell division. Zinc also supports normal growth and development during pregnancy, childhood, adolescence and aid smell and taste functions.
Cons:
Zinc toxicity can occur and result in nausea, vomiting, appetite loss, abdominal cramps, diarrhea and headaches in an acute form and more severe chroic effects.
Suggested Serving Size:
The recommended daily allowance of inc is 9.5 mg for adult men and 7.0 mg for adult women.
