L-Tyrosine
Introduction:
L-Tyrosine is a nonessential amino acid that is important to the structure of almost all protein in the body. L-tyrosine is also a precursor for many neurotransmitters. L-tyrosine is sourced in diary products, meats, fish, wheat and oats (and most other protein containing foods).
Key Benefits:
L-tyrosine, through effects on neurotransmitters, may influence mental health conditions, including depression and mood disorders. L-tyrosine is also converted by the skin into melanin, helping protect against harmful effects of UV light.
Cons:
L-tyrosine has not been reported to cause side effects, however long term effects are not known, particularly in large amounts.
Suggested Serving Size:
A 1000 mg dose may be used to achieve a mental and physical boost. A maximum of 2000 mg a day should not be exceeded.
